Learn From Industry Professionals

Our instructors have spent years working in gas operations. They bring real experience from actual companies, not just textbook knowledge.

Portrait of Idris Thorburn

Idris Thorburn

Operations Director

Idris spent fifteen years managing pipeline networks across the Midlands before joining us. He's dealt with everything from routine maintenance to major infrastructure upgrades. His approach is straightforward — he teaches what works in real situations, not what sounds good in theory.

Portrait of Seren Haldane

Seren Haldane

Regulatory Specialist

Seren worked in compliance roles for three different gas companies before specializing in regulatory training. She knows the regulations inside out and, more importantly, she knows how companies actually implement them. Her sessions focus on practical compliance approaches that work in daily operations.

How It Works

The programme runs over nine months with a mix of online learning and on-site sessions. We've structured it so you can fit it around work commitments while still getting the hands-on experience that matters.

1

July 2026

Foundation Phase

Start with online modules covering infrastructure basics and regulatory frameworks. Two evening sessions per week plus self-paced study materials. You'll get access to our learning platform with video content and practical exercises.

2

September 2026

Technical Training

Three on-site weekends at training facilities in Derby where you work with actual equipment and control systems. These sessions are hands-on — you'll be doing the work, not just watching demonstrations.

3

November 2026

Operational Practice

Apply what you've learned through case studies based on real operational scenarios. Work on projects that mirror actual challenges gas companies face. Collaborate with other participants on problem-solving exercises.

4

March 2027

Programme Completion

Final assessment covering all programme areas. Present a capstone project demonstrating your understanding of gas operations. Receive certification documenting the skills and knowledge you've gained.
