Understanding Gas Company Operations from the Ground Up
Most people think gas companies are just about pipelines and meters. But there's a whole organisational structure behind every cubic metre delivered — from regulatory compliance to emergency response coordination. We teach you how these systems actually work.

What You'll Actually Learn
This isn't theory for theory's sake. We cover the operational frameworks that keep gas distribution networks running across the UK.
Network Operations
How distribution networks coordinate maintenance schedules, manage pressure zones, and respond when something goes wrong at 3am.
Regulatory Frameworks
Gas Safe Register compliance, HSE requirements, and the documentation standards that actually matter in audits.
Emergency Response
Command structures during incidents, communication protocols, and how teams coordinate across multiple departments under pressure.
Asset Management
How companies track thousands of kilometres of pipeline, schedule replacements, and prioritise infrastructure investments.
Customer Interfaces
The systems connecting field operations to customer service, billing departments, and external contractors.
Safety Culture
Beyond the posters and slogans — how safety procedures get embedded in daily operations and decision-making.
How the Programme Works
We've structured this to fit around working schedules. Starts September 2026.
Foundation Phase
Eight weeks covering industry basics, regulatory landscape, and organisational structures. Evening sessions twice weekly.
Technical Systems
Ten weeks diving into operational frameworks, network management software, and documentation systems used across the sector.
Applied Learning
Six weeks working through real scenarios and case studies, with feedback from people who've managed these situations.
Brynhild Kaspersen
Senior Programme Lead
Who's Teaching This
Brynhild spent fourteen years working in gas distribution operations before moving into education. She managed network operations for a regional distributor, dealt with everything from routine maintenance coordination to major incident response, and knows exactly which parts of organisational structure matter in practice versus on paper.
She's not here to tell you how things should work theoretically. She'll show you how decisions actually get made, where communication breaks down, and what separates companies that handle problems well from those that don't.
Our teaching team includes three other instructors with backgrounds in compliance management, emergency coordination, and asset planning. Between them, they've got about 50 years of combined experience in the sector.
What Makes This Different
We focus on the organisational knowledge that takes years to pick up on the job. Here's how our approach compares.
Our next cohort starts September 2026. Places are limited because we keep groups small enough for genuine discussion.
